Service Description

Annual eye exams are important to maintaining your vision and overall health. Sight-threatening eye diseases often have no outward signs or symptoms in the early stages. Therefore, earlier detection allows for earlier treatment which is critical to potentially preventing serious disease progression and even vision loss. Digital retinal imaging is fast and immediately shown on the computer for the doctor to educate you about your health and wellness. The doctor can point out the various structures of the retina and explain any conditions revealed by the pictures. The more you know about eye diseases, the more likely you will understand and follow any recommendations for treatment and prevention. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) uses high definition scans of your retina, retinal nerve fiber layer, and optic nerve tissue to better explain your vision and any eye diseases, such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments and eye disease as a result of diabetes or high blood pressure. The digital images will enable the doctor to evaluate your retina and detect problems that are otherwise too small to observe without this supplemented technology. This high resolution scanner results in earlier detection and proper treatment. In addition to helping detect diseases early, retinal images provide a permanent and historical record of changes in your eye. Images can be compared side-by-side, year after year, to discover even subtle changes and help monitor your health.
